Student work from our Programmed Deformations V2.0 workshop taught by Mădălin Gheorghe and Mateusz Zwierzycki was displayed in the Romanian Design Week 2020. Technological discoveries allow us to create, research and imagine a new range of structural forms of matter. This new paradigm gives designers new skills that can influence industries such as architecture, product design, the textile industry, the aerospace industry or the automotive industry. A complex system of three-dimensional curves is outlined by the interaction of two materials with divergent behavior. On the one hand the energy stored by the elastic textile by stretching, on the other hand the rigidity of the thermoplastic polymer distributed heterogeneously by a 3D printer in algorithmically generated patterns.
